Lorna Johnson is a visual artist, who’s work spans a variety of mediums, including sculptural objects, installations, assemblages, collages, text and photography, often with fabric as a central element. Through these forms, she explores themes of heritage, particularly focusing on the roles and narratives of women within this context. She is drawn to materials with substance, life force, or historical significance, viewing them as crucial ingredients that come together to form a cohesive piece, each element with its own individuality.

Johnson has 15 years worth of experience of working with a variety of different museums and galleries with the aim of creating new ways of seeing and experiencing information.  She has worked with The National Trust, The Churches Conservation and with charity organisations of heritage sites. She has been commissioned to make work in response to museum collections and to share the heritage of historic spaces. Her work for her awarded practice-based PhD has been included in exhibitions at Leeds City Museum and Leeds Art Gallery. I have exhibited in the UK, Europe and America.  Her work is represented by The Art Court.
